Doveridge Care Home

About Doveridge

Doveridge Care Home is situated in the friendly town of Colyton, also known as the most rebellious town in Devon. It has received a Top Twenty Award for the last 9 years from carehome.co.uk for being consistently rated by reviews as one of the top twenty care homes in the South West of England. The home was also rated “Outstanding” at it’s last inspection by our regulators, the Care Quality Commission. The building itself was originally a farm house before it was adapted in to a home for the elderly. Doveridge was bought by Doveleigh Care Ltd in 1996 who since extended it to its present size.

Doveridge was Doveleigh Care Ltd first home when we were looking to initially set up anywhere in the UK. We immediately fell in love with the small home in Colyton (which was originally only 13 beds) and the lovely, friendly caring atmosphere that the home seemed bathed in. Throughout all the development and refurbishment at Doveridge, the company strived to keep hold of that lovely atmosphere and we like to think that they have succeeded, not just because of the environment we have created, but also because of the excellent nature of the care staff that we have been lucky enough to employ over the years. Though not outwardly as grand as our other two homes in the group, Doveridge remains a very warm and welcoming, homely place to be. Doveridge specialises in dementia care and this means that the relaxed homely environment is ideally suited to our residents’ needs.

Each resident at Doveridge is truly valued as an individual with their own personal likes, dislikes, needs and beliefs. The care plans are built around all those individual characteristics by creating the plan of care alongside the resident themselves and their close family, friends and loved ones. The aim is to support the resident to be true to themselves and allow their personality to shine on throughout all the levels of care and support that they may need.

Doveleigh Care Ltd is very proud of the achievements of the staff at Doveridge and this is reflected in the fact that the Home has been rated as one of the top twenty care homes in the South West (out of a total of over three and a half thousand!) by www.carehomes.co.uk . Doveridge is registered for 20 residents that we can care for in 18 single bedrooms and one double room. The home consists of two floors with lounges, assisted bathrooms, bedrooms and dining areas on both floors. The floors are connected by two stair cases and two chair lifts. The building sits nestled around its own private courtyard with the main entrance through the conservatory where a lot of the residents like to sit and watch all the comings and goings. The residents and staff of the home are very well supported by two local medical practices including GPs and District Nurses whose help, support and guidance will always be valued and gratefully received.
