St Patrick’s Day
We celebrated St Patrick’s Day with a variety of entertainment. Residents enjoyed tasting Irish themed cakes washed down with plenty of Guinness.
Waffle Day
Happy National Waffle day. We had a wonderful day celebrating Waffle Day, not that we need an excuse to eat waffles!
Baking
There was lots of laughter and fun happening during a recent baking session. Shirley liked to cut the shapes the biscuits out. Another said they liked baking as it is something like they used to do. They were very tasty biscuits.
Flexercise classes
Physical exercise, yoga and movement are all part of our regular flexcericse classes.
Valentine’s Day
Cook made some yummy chocolate and strawberry cakes. Shirley enjoyed handing out the homemade cupcakes.
French February
We did an armchair travel to France this month.
Crossword group
A new crossword group had been set up by likeminded residents who enjoy sharing their extensive general knowledge skills.
Burns Night
Our annual Burns Night celebrations included the Address of the haggis was undertaken to the sounds of bagpipes. The Selkirk Grace was said before everyone tucked into the traditional haggis with tatties and neeps. Scottish themed music, a quiz and other Scottish themed activities were laid on by our activity team.
5 years’ service award and Birthdays
Dawn had an extra special birthday this month as she received her certificate of appreciation and bonus for her 5 years’ service. Dawn works hard to ensure our residents receive the best care possible. Staff and residents joined in to celebrate Vio’s special birthday this year.
Busy Days over December for Dove Court!
December was a busy month preparing for Christmas. Shirley inspected our new minibus which features Shirley and other residents and staff in a group photo taken on the beach.
